Manual Lymphatic Drainage ( MLD ) is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid. Therapy is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected area, or “decongest” the region. MLD helps open the remaining functioning lymph collectors and move protein and fluid into them, as well as help speed up lymph fluid flow through the lymphatics.

Lymphatic drainage massage has been used for people with lymphedema, which involves swelling, generally in one of your legs or arms.

Migraine & Sinus Relief Massage

This calming massage focuses on releasing tension in the face, head, and neck through the use of Essential Oils, Kansa Wand, Pressure Points, Cold/warm Stones, and Massage the Face, Head, and Neck can help aid in the discomfort associated with migraines and sinus pressue.

Simply put, like a massage for your body, only for the face alone. The most common face massage is with hands to apply movements such as gentle deep stroking, tapping, pinching, and kneading to areas of your face prone to puffiness, wrinkles, or muscle tension. In addition to massaging with my hands on the face, I use a Kansa Wand which enhances the effects. A Kansa Wand not only plumps, depuffs, firms, and softens fine lines, but when acids are released from the body in conjunction with the facial tool, it can deliver a graying effect on the skin. Easily rinseable with water, the gray effect signifies that your skin is detoxing.

Relaxing Facial Massage

The Kansa Wand is made from teak wood and Kansa Metal- a mix of copper and tin. Ancient wisdom claims this metal to be more healing than gold or silver and helps increase your skin’s ability to heal. Copper aids in the body's natural collagen and elastin production and promotes skin repair. During this session “ Clean Living “ Products will be used to ensure the skin is not clogged with heavy oils/creams.

Massage Pressure Levels

  • Long, light, and broad strokes (effleurage and petrissage) are used to connect the body from one region to another, intention is on superficial tissues. This pressure is often used for a relaxing full-body massage (also known as a Swedish massage). There is less tissue displacement in this pressure than in any of the others.

  • Strong, moderately firm strokes often used to mobilize restricted soft tissues. This can be applied to full body or used locally for specific pain and restricted range of motion issues or “knots”. Traditional names like kneading, trigger point or neuromuscular therapy and various forms of friction. The therapist may integrate long and short strokes while using this pressure.

  • This is what is often referred to as a “deep tissue” massage. It is usually applied to specific issues and concentrated areas of the body that feel stuck and stagnate or the client feels the need to get in deep to meet the pain. The pressure is firm and feels deep. It is usually applied at a slower pace. It has a tendency to leave a little lingering soreness, with the intention of increased mobilization of the tissues.

This pressure is often used for a relaxing full-body massage (also known as a Swedish massage). There is less tissue displacement in this pressure than in any of the others.

  • Your session will be conducted by a professional massage therapist who has received proper training in a variety of techniques. Although no two massages are exactly alike, you may request a certain technique or modality.

  • Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort. You will be properly draped during the session.

  • The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.

  • You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

  • You and the practitioner will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).

  • A light oil or massage cream may be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed.

  • There are numerous types of massage and bodywork. Various techniques utilize different strokes including basic rubbing, rocking movement, posture and movement reeducation, application of pressure to specific points, and more. Ask the practitioner about the methods they use.

  • The average full-body massage or bodywork session lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session. For instance: the neck and shoulders, back, or legs and feet. Many people prefer a 60 or 90-minute session for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after the session.

  • Make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask the practitioner questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
